First WTA Title for Joint, Who Defeated Cristian in Rabat Final

Maya Joint wrapped up a perfect week in Rabat. In the Moroccan capital, the 19-year-old Australian player won her first title on the main circuit at the WTA 250 in Rabat after a flawless week.
To reach the final, the world No. 78 had defeated Ana Konjuh (7-5, 6-2), Katie Volynets (6-0, 6-3), Ann Li (6-2, 6-1), and Ajla Tomljanovic (6-4 ab). In the final, Joint, playing her first singles final on the circuit, dominated Jaqueline Cristian (6-3, 6-2 in 1h20) to have her name inscribed on the list of champions, succeeding Peyton Stearns, who had beaten Mayar Sherif the previous year.
This victory also allows her to climb 25 places in the rankings to reach the 53rd position, the best ranking of her career. Joint gains a lot of confidence before the French Open, where she will face her compatriot Ajla Tomljanovic, whom she faced in the semifinals of this Rabat tournament, in the first round.
A memorable week for the native of Grosse Pointe in the United States, as she not only didn't lose a single set in singles, but also won the doubles with Georgian player Oksana Kalashnikova against the Italian pair Angelica Moratelli/Camilla Rosatello.
