Fissette tackles her former player Halep: "She constantly needed something new".
As the saying goes, it's a small world. Wim Fissette has experienced this first-hand in recent months.
The Belgian coach is Iga Swiatek's new coach, despite being aware of the Pole's positive trimetazidine test.
The announcement of her one-month suspension outraged many in the tennis world, including Simona Halep, who was herself suspended for four years (before her suspension was reduced to nine months) for doping.
The Romanian was coached by Fissette for just a few months in 2014.
"It was something huge. I took a talented athlete, but not yet a Grand Slam champion, up to second place in the rankings.
I believed that together we would reach the top and end up winning a Major title.
But then Simona, along with her family, decided she needed a Romanian coach, someone who spoke their language," he lamented to Polish media outlet Przeglad.
"She would go to one tournament with her mother, another with her brother, and the next it was her friends' turn. Each time, there was someone to entertain her.
She constantly needed something new. I don't think a coach could work with her for more than a year," he says.
