Joao Fonseca is clearly destined to be an excellent tennis player. The 18-year-old Brazilian nugget has just qualified for the Masters Next Gen final.
The real attraction of the week, Fonseca tamed Luca Van Assche with bluffing authority (4-2, 4-2, 4-1 in 59 minutes).
Excellent in all areas of the game (20 winners, 4 unforced errors, 6 aces, 85% of points won on first serve, 0 break points conceded), he totally disgusted a Frenchman who seemed almost resigned at the end of the match.
To round off his magnificent week, Fonseca will attempt to win the trophy this Sunday against a player he already beat in pool play a few days ago: Learner Tien.
