Fonseca, Jabeur, the French in Wimbledon Qualifiers: Today’s Grass-Court Schedule

With just one week to go until the London Grand Slam, many players already qualified for the main draw will compete in their final grass-court warm-up tournament. For others, their journey to secure a spot in the legendary Wimbledon tournament begins today. Here are the matches to follow:

In Eastbourne (UK), young Brazilian talent Fonseca will face Bergs in the opening match on Centre Court, followed by local favorite and grass-court specialist Evans. The Brit has delivered strong performances on grass in the past, winning Nottingham twice, and will take on Kecmanović. Kasatkina, the tournament’s top seed, will play against New Zealand’s Sun. Finally, the 2019 semifinalist here and two-time Wimbledon finalist will close the day’s play against Joint. All players will be contesting their first-round matches in England.

In Bad Homburg (Germany), spectators will witness Alexandrova’s debut against Bencic, Shnaider vs. Vekic, as well as Osaka facing Danilovic. The Japanese player received a wild card from the organizers.

On the French side, Halys will take on qualifier Bellucci on Court No. 2 in Eastbourne. Moutet and Spain’s Martinez will be the first to step onto the center court in Mallorca today. Muller is also scheduled for the first rotation, but on the Grandstand against Safiullin.

Lastly, several French players will try their luck in the Wimbledon qualifiers, including Herbert, Van Assche, Mayot, Blanchet, and Jacquet.
