Fonseca joins Sinner and Alcaraz in Masters Next Gen history
At just 18 years of age, young Brazilian talent Joao Fonseca reached the final of the Masters Next Gen on Saturday in his first appearance.
The current 145th in the world has remained unbeaten so far this week, and will be the strong favorite for the title tomorrow against Learner Tien, an opponent he has already beaten in the group phase.
And thanks to this solid week, Fonseca has made history by becoming the third player after Jannik Sinner (2019) and Carlos Alcaraz (2021) to reach the final at the age of 18.
Given the subsequent progress made by both players, we can only hope that the future will be at least as promising for Joao Fonseca.
