Fonseca sets out his ambitions: "With talent and hard work, anything is possible".
João Fonseca is the latest player to secure his place at the Next Gen ATP Finals, to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from December 18.
The 18-year-old Brazilian, who started the season above the top 700, is now ranked 145th on the ATP rankings.
He made his mark at the start of the year by reaching the quarter-finals on home soil at the ATP 500 tournament in Rio de Janeiro, eliminating Arthur Fils and Cristian Garin along the way.
Next month, he will attempt to win the most prestigious tournament of his young career in the Middle East.
In the meantime, Fonseca has granted an interview to the ATP website and talks about what led him to reveal himself on the circuit this year and about the Next Gen ATP Finals, which will be his next big tournament.
"I think I've matured a lot, and that's thanks to this sport. I'm definitely a fast learner," he began.
"One of my goals this year was to play in the Next Gen ATP Finals. I'm going to prepare myself and I hope to go all the way.
It's a dream to play with the seven other best players under 21 and to take part in the same tournament as them.
My coach often tells me that with talent and hard work, anything is possible."
