For Federer, it's not just tennis that has brought the members of the "big four" closer together: "It's being parents".
Roger Federer continues with his confidences. Very happy since his retirement in 2022, he continues to promote the documentary dedicated to the end of his career. In a lengthy interview with "El Pais", the Swiss star talked about the famous "big four".
The term was used to describe his domination of the rest of the ATP circuit, alongside Nadal, Djokovic and Murray. Indeed, a number of great players such as Tsonga, Ferrer, Berdych, Del Potro and Nishikori won almost nothing due to the monumental level of play offered by this "big four".
So much so, in fact, that almost everyone agrees that if they had played at any other time in tennis, all these players would have won several Grand Slam titles.
When asked about this dominance, the 'Maestro' offered a rather interesting insight. He explains that it's not just tennis that has brought him closer to his three rivals.
For him, their respective private lives also played a role: "I also believe that what connects us all is the fact of having been parents. Beyond all the matches we played and the rivalry we all had, we had a lot in common and a lot to talk about.
Novak has two children, Andy has four and Rafa was about to have his first child (when Federer announced his retirement). It was wonderful to be able to experience all this as a family!"
