Insolite - Federer reflects on Djokovic's blossoming: "I don't remember there being a huge amount of hype".

Roger Federer continues his media tour. To promote his report on the last twelve days of his professional career, he is stepping up his contacts with the press.
As well as talking about his retirement in 2022, these meetings are an opportunity to learn a little more about the Maestro's career.
In an interview with "Welt", Federer talked about his image of Novak Djokovic when the latter first arrived on the circuit.
The Serb, who was much less eagerly awaited, was far less frightening to him than a certain Rafael Nadal: "The first time I played against Novak in Monaco (victory 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in 2006), I don't remember there being a huge media hype. No one said: 'Here comes Novak!
We didn't say that he could eventually rewrite the history books of our sport. With Rafa, it was different. There was more power behind it. We knew what he was going to become."
