"For now, we can't say Jannik and Carlos are better than Roger and Rafa," says Tsitsipas
In an interview with Tennis365, Tsitsipas addressed the debate that frequently dominates media discussions—the comparison between the Big 3 and the Sinner-Alcaraz duo. For the Greek player, the answer leaves no room for doubt: the gap between these two generations remains enormous.
"As long as they don’t win the same number of tournaments, we can’t say Jannik and Carlos are better than Roger and Rafa. What’s clear to everyone is that their tennis level is very high. And new stars will continue to emerge over the years.
I’m telling you, in the next five years, we’ll see more superstars and more players with a different identity entering the scene than those playing now. That’s part of the cycle of the game and how things work. For me, the Big 3 elevated tennis to a higher level, and the number of trophies they’ve won won’t be easy to surpass."
On the sporting front, Tsitsipas is having a nightmarish year. Since Barcelona, he hasn’t managed to advance past the third round. Recently, he suffered an early exit in Toronto against O’Connell (6-4, 4-6, 6-2).
