For the second year running, Italy is in the Davis Cup final!
Italy can dream of a second consecutive Davis Cup title, after qualifying for the final at the expense of Australia (2-0).
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner validated Italy's ticket to the final. After Matteo Berrettini's victory in the first singles, Sinner was up against Alex De Minaur, an opponent he had easily beaten at the Masters less than two weeks ago.
The Australian gave up his service game at 3-2 in the first set, giving Sinner the opportunity to win the first set comfortably.
In the second set, the exchanges were more balanced, but De Minaur was broken at 5-5. Victorious 6-3, 7-5, the world No.1 won his second match of the week, again in two sets.
Italy, champions in 2023, will attempt to win the tournament for the second year running tomorrow, this time against the Netherlands.
