Fritz Advances to Wimbledon Semifinals by Defeating Khachanov
Taylor Fritz left the clay courts of Roland Garros with great disappointment, losing in the first round.
The American was determined to bounce back during this grass-court season. On Tuesday, he played his third Wimbledon quarterfinal, a stage he had never surpassed before.
Facing Karen Khachanov, the match started very well for Fritz, who took the first two sets 6-3, 6-4.
However, the momentum then shifted in Karen Khachanov's favor. The Russian won the third set 6-1 and broke his opponent early in the fourth.
Yet, Fritz managed to quickly regain control and forced his opponent into a tie-break.
After winning it, the American ultimately triumphed 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6. Thanks to this victory, he will reclaim the fourth-place ranking from Jack Draper after the tournament.
He will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Cameron Norrie in the semifinals.
