Fritz and De Minaur Make Successful Starts in Washington
The ATP 500 in Washington continues with the top seeds entering the fray.
Taylor Fritz, the tournament’s No. 1 seed, made his debut on the center court against Aleksandar Vukic. In just 59 minutes of play, the American secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory. In the round of 16, he will face Matteo Arnaldi.
On the John Harris court, Alex De Minaur, the No. 7 seed, took on Yunchaokete Bu. Recently dropped from the top 10, the Australian dominated his opponent 7-6, 6-2. This marks his first win in the tournament since 2018.
The competition will heat up in the next round as he faces Jiri Lehecka, who earlier defeated Zachary Svajda (6-4, 6-7, 6-3).
