Fritz Confirms His Ranking Against Fokina in Wimbledon's 3rd Round

As part of Wimbledon's third round, Fritz faced Davidovich Fokina in the opening match on Centre Court.
After securing the first two sets solidly, the 27-year-old saw his opponent narrow the gap by courageously winning a tie-break 7-5. Despite this setback, the American kept his composure to clinch the match, delivering a crushing 6-2 to the Spaniard (final score: 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1).
Now through to the round of 16, the American confirmed his strong form on grass following his title in Eastbourne and his first two rounds in London (11 wins in his last 12 matches on this surface).
Notable match details: The world No. 5 again called for a medical timeout due to elbow bleeding after diving for a volley at 2-1 on his serve in the second set. He also summoned the physiotherapist for an issue with his right foot.
For a spot in the quarterfinals, he will face the winner of the match between Thompson and Darderi.
