Fritz, new world No. 4: "I'm ranked where I should be
By reaching the final of the Masters in Turin, Taylor Fritz will end 2024 ranked fourth in the world, his best career ranking.
The American, who has enjoyed a fine season with a US Open final and two titles (Delray Beach and Eastbourne), is beginning to settle into the world's Top 5.
In a press conference after his defeat by Jannik Sinner, he spoke of this new ranking: "I don't really think about where I am. This week, I concentrated on my game and the confidence I had.
In 2023, when I won in Delray Beach and was going to defend my title in Indian Wells, I was 5th in the world. It was crazy, I was thinking a lot about how many players better than me were behind me (laughs).
At the time, I was No. 5, but I didn't feel like one. Now I'm ranked where I should be. I'm where I belong.
It's been a great year and that gives me a lot of confidence. The goal I set myself at the start of the season was to finish in the Top 5, I really wanted to."
