Sinner imperious against Fritz to win his first Masters!
The moment of consecration at the Masters has arrived for Jannik Sinner. After a first setback in last year's final, the second opportunity proved to be the right one for the world No.1, who beat Taylor Fritz in two sets (6-4, 6-4) in front of his home crowd in Turin.
As in the group stage, the match between Sinner and Fritz ended 6-4, 6-4. And, as in their last encounter, it was the Italian who emerged victorious. On the other hand, the match did not have the same level of suspense as a few days ago.
In the first set, Sinner set the tone with two white games on his first two serves. Fritz then cracked at 3-3, having already saved two break points. Despite an opportunity to come back at 5-5, the American let the first set slip away.
Then, at 2-2 in the second set, Sinner went for the break. Despite feeling a little nervous in his final service games, the Italian won all the important points to claim his first Masters title.
An unsurprising result given the perfect week achieved by the world No.1, who never dropped a set along the way, confirming his current domination of the ATP circuit.
