Fritz takes out Zverev, he's in the Wimbledon quarter-finals!

Taylor Fritz has just delivered a masterful performance on Centre Court grass in the last 16 of Wimbledon. Trailing Alexander Zverev 2 sets to 0, the American, world no. 12, managed to turn the tables, eventually winning in 5 sets (4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3) at the end of a three-and-a-half-hour battle.

Despite conceding the first two sets, Fritz played excellent tennis from start to finish, as evidenced by his excellent ratio of 69 winners to 23 unforced errors. He was very consistent throughout, and it was Zverev who couldn't keep up.

The German had managed 25 winners to 9 unforced errors in the first 2 acts, but in the next 3, perhaps hampered in his movements by his painful left knee, he dropped to 30 winners to 24 unforced errors.

This was Fritz's first ever victory over an ATP Top 5 player (Zverev is world no. 4). This will be his second Wimbledon quarter-final after the 2022 edition. He will take on Lorenzo Musetti, in a clash in which the winner will qualify for the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
