Auger-Aliassime announces his withdrawal from Metz: "My health comes first, even before qualifying for the Masters"
While he seemed on track for Turin, Félix Auger-Aliassime has withdrawn from competing in Metz, citing persistent pain. "My health comes first," he stated.
A dramatic turn of events in the ATP Finals race. While he seemed in an excellent position to secure the final ticket to Turin thanks to his final at the Rolex Paris Masters, Félix Auger-Aliassime has ultimately announced his withdrawal from the Metz tournament due to physical problems.
"I don't talk about it much, but I've had a lot of physical issues this week and I don't want to repeat the mistakes of the past. My health comes first, even before qualification. If I qualify, great. If not, Lorenzo will deserve his spot. That's my decision," the Canadian said in a press conference.
Musetti, currently 160 points behind Auger-Aliassime in the Race, will need to win in Athens to snatch the eighth and final ticket to Turin.
