Fritz too strong for Goffin
David Goffin's great adventure has come to an end.
Despite playing at a level not seen in months, David Goffin failed to book his place in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters 1000.
Having beaten the likes of Musetti and Zverev, the Belgian was unable to find the key against a very serious Taylor Fritz (6-3, 6-4).
Caught flat-footed by an American who played very well and, above all, served too well (10 aces), Goffin lacked the efficiency to hope to reach the semi-finals.
Fritz, for his part, reaches the final four, where he will meet the winner of the match between Jakub Mensik and Novak Djokovic for a place in the final.
