Fritz traps Zverev again and awaits Sinner in the Masters final!

Taylor Fritz pulled off a stunning upset in Turin, defeating Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals. The American didn't start as the favorite, but won the third set tie-break after almost two and a half hours of play (6-3, 3-6, 7-6[3]).

Fritz's nerves were a little more solid than the world No.2's at key moments. Particularly in the final tie-break, where he was strong on his serve before taking his chance perfectly on his first match point.

Zverev, on the other hand, failed to play his best tennis in this decisive tie-break. Prior to that, he had failed to convert any of his 5 break points in the 3rd set. He'll have plenty to regret.

Fritz defeated the German for the third consecutive time in five months, each time in a high-stakes match (Wimbledon, US Open, ATP Finals). Having reached the final of the last US Open, he now confirms his new status.

Beaten by Jannik Sinner in the New York final, the American could well be entitled to a rematch. To do so, the Italian will have to beat Casper Ruud in the second semi-final this evening.
