Garcia can't take it anymore: "Burn out? Possible"
Caroline Garcia can't take it anymore.
Plunged into what looks like the worst season of her career, the French No.1 once again collapsed in her first-round match at the US Open.
Lost on the court, unable to limit her number of unforced errors and visibly still suffering from a shoulder injury, Garcia was largely dominated by the modest Zarazua, ranked 92nd in the world (6-1, 6-4).
Interviewed by L'Équipe, the Frenchwoman, at the end of her tether, spoke of a burn-out: "A burn-out? Possibly, yeah.
Sometimes, you feel like you're running in the wheel, looking for a moment to get out of it, and you just can't. There's no way out. There's no way out of the tunnel.
There's the ranking, this constant points thing. Is that the healthiest way to play tennis? Not really.
The circuit is increasingly intense, demanding both physically and emotionally.
Several players have already complained. For now, it's holding up, we'll see."
