Gasquet absent from Australian Open qualifiers
The Australian Open qualifying list has been unveiled. However, we can see that Richard Gasquet is not on it. The Frenchman had declared just a few days earlier that he would be taking part.
An oversight on his part would be very surprising. The French wild card was awarded to Lucas Pouille. However, he is second on the waiting list.
This means that in the event of two withdrawals, the wild card will be redistributed to another Frenchman.
It could well be that Gasquet has an idea in the back of his mind, or that he has information that the others don't have.
In any case, it would be a great shame not to see the Frenchman take part in his final season on the ATP Tour.
