27 years after his father, Cruz Hewitt to play Australian Open qualifier

Cruz Hewitt, son of former world No. 1 Lleyton, is on the rise and attracting a lot of interest in Australia. Thanks to wild cards, he was able to play four Challengers in Australia at the end of 2024, including two final tables.

At just 16, he received a wild card to play in the Australian Open qualifiers, just like his father 27 years earlier. In 1997, at the same age as his son, Lleyton Hewitt made it through all three qualifying rounds, becoming the tournament's youngest qualifier.

He then lost in the first round to Sergi Bruguera. Will his son be able to repeat such a performance? The answer in a few weeks' time.
