Gasquet Back in Training Ahead of His Final Roland Garros
Since Monte-Carlo, Richard Gasquet’s farewell tour has hit a snag, forcing him to withdraw from the Challengers in Aix-en-Provence and then Bordeaux due to a calf tear.
The 38-year-old Frenchman now has only one remaining event on his schedule: Roland Garros. As the logical recipient of a wild card for the main draw, Gasquet is doing everything possible to ensure he’s at 100% for his first-round match.
As reported by journalist Fabrice Abgrall, the former world No. 7 has resumed training—and on the Roland Garros grounds, no less. He was spotted this Wednesday hitting balls on Court Philippe-Chatrier with a bandage on his left calf.
He will play what could be the final match of his career on Monday, May 26, or Tuesday, May 27.
