Belle performance d'Hugo Gaston qui s'est offert une victoire de prestige sur Denis Shapovalov pour franchir le 1er tour à Marseille. Une revanche également puisqu'il avait chuté au même stade de la compétition face au Canadien la semaine dernière à Montpellier.

Victorieux sur le score de 7/5, 1/6, 6/3 en 1h53, Gaston retrouvera son compatriote Ugo Humbert au deuxième tour. Il s'agira déjà du 3e duel franco-français pour le Toulousain dans cette édition 2024 de l'Open 13. Il a en effet déjà écarté Titouan Droguet et Pierre-Hugues Herbert respectivement au 1er et au 2e tour des qualifications.
