Seeded number 2 in the women's draw, Coco Gauff is one of the last favorites to make her debut at Roland-Garros this year. The American, facing Australian player Olivia Gadecki, did not falter to reach the second round.

Against a player who committed too many unforced errors (33, against only 8 winners), Gauff didn't have to push herself too much, although she was sometimes in trouble on her serve (7 double faults).

In the end, the American, finalist of the 2022 edition, did not expend much energy and reached the second round (6-2, 6-2). For a place in the third round, she will face either Chloé Paquet or Tereza Valentova.

A finalist in the last two WTA 1000 tournaments in Madrid and Rome, Gauff is among the favorites to win this tournament, and she certainly didn't miss her start in this year's tournament.

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
