Gauff Dismisses Raducanu and Advances to Quarterfinals in Rome
After defeating Linette in the third round, Gauff continued her run in Rome by overpowering Raducanu in the Round of 16 (6-1, 6-2).
Following a one-sided first set, the American dominated once again in the next set to secure the match against the world No. 49. Converting 4 out of 9 break points and winning 74% of her first-serve points, the 21-year-old wrapped up the duel in 1 hour and 19 minutes.
This was their second meeting after their clash at the 2023 Australian Open. Back then, the WTA No. 3 had also defeated her opponent in straight sets (6-3, 7-6).
The 2023 US Open champion now reaches her third quarterfinal in Rome and boasts eight wins in her last nine matches this season.
