Griekspoor Eliminated by De Jong in Bastad in All-Dutch Showdown

In the first quarterfinal of the day at the ATP 250 tournament in Bastad, tennis fans in the Netherlands had their eyes glued to the match between Jesper De Jong and Tallon Griekspoor.
The latter, ranked 29th in the world and the No. 2 seed in Sweden, was hoping to reach the semifinals and get revenge on De Jong, who had defeated him in the quarterfinals of the Montpellier tournament earlier this season (7-6, 6-4).
The first set was tightly contested, but Griekspoor, who was in good form after saving five match points in the previous round against Andrea Pellegrino (4-6, 7-6, 6-3), broke at the perfect moment—at 4-4 in the first set—before closing it out to take the lead.
The second set started similarly, with the higher-ranked Dutchman securing the first break. However, De Jong didn’t back down, clawing his way back before winning the set in a tiebreak.
As tension gradually built, the two players went toe-to-toe in the decisive set, staying level until 3-3. With two breaks, the world No. 106 then pulled away to secure the victory (4-6, 7-6, 6-3 in 2h40). Jesper De Jong advances to the semifinals, where he will face either Camilo Ugo Carabelli or Filip Misolic.
