Halys: "Irreal to be in the final for the first time".
Quentin Halys is playing in the very first ATP final of his career on Gstaad clay. The 27-year-old Frenchman faces Italy's Matteo Berrettini on the Swiss clay this Sunday in a bid to lift the trophy.
Ranked 192nd in the world and a qualifier, he seemed to have trouble realizing that he was just one win away from the title. That's what he explained after his semi-final victory over Jan-Lennard Struff on Saturday (6-3, 7-6 [2]).
Quentin Halys: "I had a good feel for the ball from start to finish (against Struff). I didn't miss many shots. Yes, it seems a bit unreal. I used my experience from last year. I had Ruud on clay (at Estoril, in the semi-finals), such a great player.
I lost 7-6 in the third and it was a bit painful. But now, I'm so happy to be in the final for the first time."
