Her forehand on grass is a problem for her," Roddick honest about Gauff's chances at Wimbledon
With five players in the top 15, the United States still hopes to reclaim the top spot at Wimbledon. Orphaned by the Williams sisters, American fans have high hopes for the new generation, particularly led by Gauff, to perform in the sacred temple of tennis.
In his famous podcast regularly posted on YouTube, the American and three-time finalist in London discussed the chances of his compatriots in this third Grand Slam of the year:
"Jess Pegula can be an absolute monster on grass with her hitting and the way she goes into the corner and her ability to change direction. As for Gauff, she's going to arrive confident after the French Open. Now, listen, Coco's chances haven’t changed because she won in Paris.
She's very strong at what she does, nonetheless, the problem with her forehand and the speed of the grass will always be something people try to exploit against her, and they do it consistently. In my opinion, the easiest surface for her opponents against her is indeed grass.
