"He's in another dimension," Bublik says about Sinner
Alexander Bublik's impressive run at Roland-Garros came to an end in the quarterfinals. After victories against Duckworth, De Minaur (after being down two sets to love), Rocha, and Draper, the Kazakh, ranked 62nd in the world at the start of the tournament, fell to a very solid Jannik Sinner (6-1, 7-5, 6-0) in his first-ever Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance. In the press conference, Bublik didn’t hesitate to praise the Italian.
"Jannik (Sinner) is one of the two best players in the world; he deserves to be world No. 1. He’s already won multiple Grand Slams, which probably very few players can achieve in their careers overall.
For me, I’ve said it many times before, but he’s in another dimension in every aspect of his game. Being able to compete against him again is a great experience, and I’ll have to take the positives from this. On his side, the quality of his tennis shows that he’ll be at the very top for many years.
In 2021, in Miami, when I said he wasn’t human, it was a joke I made. He was so young, but he was already so focused and playing incredible tennis. Since then, he’s improved massively. It’s not easy because he’s very fast.
He plays very intelligently. He’s won all his matches in under two hours in this tournament. Physically, he’s very strong. I’m not the only player who’s lost a set 6-0 to him in this tournament. I wish him all the best for the rest of it.
Still, I have to say it was tight in the second set today, which gives me a bit more hope for the next times I’ll have to face the best players in the world," he elaborated to *The Tennis Letter*.
