"Hopefully, this is my lucky day," Bublik says ahead of final against Medvedev in Halle
Who will stop Alexander Bublik in Halle? The Kazakh, impressive all week, has confirmed his strong form after reaching the quarterfinals of Roland-Garros in recent weeks.
Competing on the German grass, the world No. 45 has strung together strong performances to eliminate Alexandre Muller, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Tomas Machac, and Karen Khachanov. On court after securing his spot in the final, Bublik spoke about his next opponent, Daniil Medvedev, whom he has never beaten in six meetings.
"He’s practically the only Russian player I’ve never managed to beat in my life. I’ve won against all the others, but not him. Daniil (Medvedev) has been somewhat of a curse for me throughout my career.
But, as an old sage once reminded me, every time you lose to someone, you mathematically get closer to a win. Hopefully, this is my lucky day," Bublik joked recently in an interview with *The Tennis Letter*.
