Hugo Gaston Parts Ways with Coach El Aynaoui After Two Years of Collaboration

World No. 125 Hugo Gaston is currently in a slump this season. On a current streak of five consecutive losses (and fifteen defeats in his last twenty matches), the Frenchman is sorely lacking in confidence.
Eliminated in the first round of the US Open in three sets by Shintaro Mochizuki (6-4, 6-3, 6-4), Gaston has only won one match since June, which came in the first round of the Toronto Masters 1000 due to Mattia Bellucci’s retirement.
In recent hours, Gaston, who hopes to stop the bleeding in upcoming tournaments, announced a major change in his team. The 24-year-old player confirmed that he has ended his collaboration with Younès El Aynaoui, a former Moroccan professional player, who had been his coach since April 2023.
"After more than two years of working together, our collaboration with Younès has come to an end. Thank you for your constant support, for everything you've taught me, and for all the moments we've shared, on and off the court.
I am very grateful for the journey we've shared and wish you nothing but the best for the future. See you soon," Gaston wrote on his Instagram account.
