Humbert advances to the second round of the Australian Open

Ugo Humbert defeated Italian qualifier Matteo Gigante 7-6, 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Australian Open.

The Frenchman first gave himself a fright in the first set, trailing 5-2 in the tie-break, and then in the second set, trailing 5 games to 2. He managed to catch up in both situations, not losing a set.

Humbert spent 2 hours 53 minutes on court and will face Hady Habib in the next round, who beat Bu Yunchaokete, becoming the first Lebanese player to win a match in a Grand Slam final draw.
