Despite a very good first set won by Ugo Humbert against Tallon Griekspoor, the Frenchman eventually lost 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in 2 hours and 3 minutes of play.
This defeat will have consequences for his ranking, as Humbert won the tournament last year. As a result, he is expected to drop to 18th place.
As for the Dutchman, this marks his thirteenth victory against a Top 20 player. He stated in a post-match interview: "It was very difficult.
He played very well in the first set. The last time we played, there were three tie-breaks.
I had to elevate my game and play well to win my match today."
Griekspoor will face either Daniil Medvedev or Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the quarterfinals.
