Humbert on his defeat by Zverev: "I got hammered in the first set".

Humbert on his defeat by Zverev: I got hammered in the first set.

Ugo Humbert lost to Alexander Zverev in 4 sets at the Australian Open. He spoke to RMC Sport about his performance today.

He said: "In the first set, I got hammered, I couldn't see the ball. I tried to get something going, but if I carried on like that, nothing was going to happen.

I tried to be more expressive, that's how I felt. I should have done it in the third set. I'm still learning.

I felt I had to keep pressing, Zverev was starting to have doubts.

I found the right compromise between being aggressive and being solid. I messed up a bit. In the third set, I had a break point, then a bad game and it went fast.

But bravo to him, he's playing very well, very solid. I need to learn from this defeat, I've got the ability to progress and get even closer to all that."
