Humbert: "Take the energy from the audience".
Having qualified for the 2nd round of the Paris Masters 1000, Ugo Humbert acknowledged that the public had played a role in his victory.
During his match against Brandon Nakashima, the Frenchman encouraged himself on numerous occasions and sought the support of the Paris-Bercy crowd.
As he explained in his post-match press conference: "When I went to take a break after the second set, I said to myself: 'This could be your last Bercy. You have to take the energy from the crowd."
I felt my energy dropping so I had to fight and use everything I could in my favor. I know that atmospheres like that can help you, but they can also work against your opponent.
And that's what happened. He made a few mistakes when he was about to break, so I'm happy."
