Humbert Withdraws from the Final Edition of the Metz Tournament
Injured in the back in Basel, Ugo Humbert has been forced to withdraw from the ATP 250 tournament in Metz.
Humbert's 2025 season is taking a turn for the worse. Having suffered a back injury during his semi-final against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the ATP 500 in Basel, the 27-year-old player was unable to take his place at the Paris Masters 1000, a tournament where he reached the final last year.
But that's not all, as the world number 22 will also be unable to compete in the ATP 250 tournament in Metz. In recent months, the Metz native had assured that he wanted to do everything possible to play in the tournament, which has been held in his hometown since 2003 (with the exception of 2020, when the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic), as it will be removed from the ATP calendar starting next year.
Having won the Moselle Open in 2023 against Alexander Shevchenko, Humbert did not participate in the tournament last year. His last appearance in this tournament will therefore remain his title win two years ago. With this withdrawal, four players benefit by entering the main draw, including two Frenchmen: Adrian Mannarino, Terence Atmane, Matteo Berrettini, and Reilly Opelka.
