Hurkacz Withdraws Last Minute from Miami Due to Back Injury
Bad news for Hubert Hurkacz. The Polish player, ranked 22nd in the world, will not be able to compete in the Miami Masters 1000. After being soundly defeated by Alex De Minaur in the third round at Indian Wells, the former world number 6, who was scheduled to play this Saturday in Florida against Luciano Darderi, was forced to withdraw.
Suffering from a lower back injury, Hurkacz, who won the first of his two Masters 1000 titles in Miami four years ago against Jannik Sinner, will not be present this year. He has also withdrawn from the doubles tournament he was set to play with German player Tim Puetz.
Adam Walton, ranked 89th in the world and who lost in the final round of qualifying to Tristan Schoolkate, has been selected as a lucky loser. As a result, he will enter directly into the second round and will be the one on the courts this Saturday to face Darderi.
