Hyeon Chung in trouble for his new comeback attempt
In January 2025, it will already be seven years since Hyeon Chung stunned the tennis world by eliminating Novak Djokovic in three sets at the Australian Open, before reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.
Since then, however, the South Korean has never been able to fulfil his potential, having been injured on numerous occasions.
At the end of December, just a few days before the ATP circuit resumes, Chung has appeared in two ITF tournaments in Indonesia.
And the former tennis hope proved to be in trouble, losing the first tournament to Erik Arutiunian (world No. 721) in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 7-5), before falling yesterday to Giles Hussey (world No. 421) in two sets (6-4, 6-4).
At 28, Chung has no intention of giving up tennis any time soon, but his return to the forefront, so long hoped for by his fans, still seems a long way off.
