I admire her enormously," says Anisimova about Sabalenka
Defeated in the US Open final, Amanda Anisimova was unable to play the tennis she had hoped for. In the press conference, she reflected on her match against Aryna Sabalenka while praising her opponent's qualities.
She stated: "I was rushing a lot and struggling to keep up. I knew I had to be the more aggressive one if I wanted to win, and it would be very difficult regardless.
I was trying to stay in the match and think about how to make things harder for her, but the rallies weren't long at all. It was really tough, and I didn't realize I was hitting more winners than she was.
She played amazing tennis from the start. Obviously, she's number one and is fully capable of playing incredible tennis, like she did today. I give her all the credit for that.
I admire her enormously; she works hard, and that's why she's here. We've had a lot of tough matches. I wish it had been more competitive today, but that's just how it is.
