I learned some very hard lessons early in the season, says Sabalenka after her title

Aryna Sabalenka won her first Grand Slam of the year by defeating Amanda Anisimova in the US Open final. In the post-match press conference, the Belarusian revealed the disappointment caused by her two lost finals at Roland Garros and the Australian Open.

"I learned some very hard lessons early in the season. I lost a few Grand Slam finals, and winning this one means a lot to defend my title.

After the Australian Open, I thought the best thing to do would be to forget and move on, but the same thing happened at Roland Garros.

After Roland Garros, I told myself that it might be time to reflect on those finals and learn from them, because I didn't want it to happen again.

I was in Mykonos, reading my book and enjoying the scenery. I wondered: 'Why did I let my emotions take over in those two finals?'

I thought if I reached the final, I was going to win, and I didn't expect to lose. I thought everything would be fine, which was completely wrong.
