In an interview shared by Tennis Channel, Madison Keys followed in Zverev’s footsteps by breaking the taboo around mental health. At 30 years old, the American revealed she sought therapy to improve both her personal and athletic life.
"I am a human being who needs to be fixed. For me, being so hyper-focused on tennis wasn’t as helpful as I thought. Going to see someone and looking at my life as a whole made me realize how much it influenced how I felt on the court.
This realization was a big shift for me. I’m not just a tennis player but a full person with other truly amazing qualities outside of tennis."
Ranked 8th in the WTA, Keys achieved one of her dreams by winning her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open this year.
