"I am aiming to improve my serve, but for the rest, I feel comfortable," Sinner discusses his victory over Popyrin in the second round of the US Open

A composed Jannik Sinner did not falter as he advanced to the third round of the US Open. The world number one, who was already efficient in his opening match against Vit Kopriva, easily defeated Alexei Popyrin (6-3, 6-2, 6-2) and will now face Denis Shapovalov for a spot in the round of 16.
The defending champion reflected on his success against the Australian, who notably eliminated Novak Djokovic at Flushing Meadows last year, just weeks after winning his first Masters 1000 title in Montreal.
"I am very happy to have managed these first two matches at 100% of my abilities. I always try to play the best tennis possible. I felt that neither of us served particularly well.
However, I responded very well, especially on his second serve. I am aiming to improve my serve, but honestly, for the rest, I feel quite comfortable. It's not easy to play against him in the second round.
I didn't serve very well, but I responded well and that still gave me some confidence. I feel good from the baseline, even though I can still improve.
We are trying to tweak a few small details with the serve, and sometimes I struggle a bit. Tennis is becoming an increasingly fast, physical, and tactical sport. And we are preparing well for all of that," Sinner told Tennis World Italia.
