Officially qualified for the ATP Finals semi-finals, Jannik Sinner reacted to his victory over Alexander Zverev on Wednesday evening during the second group stage match.

Sinner holds his ground. The defending ATP Finals champion has won his first two group matches and is the first player to officially secure his spot in the final four after his win against Zverev (6-4, 6-3). The world number 2 thus reacted to his victory over the German, as he will play a final, inconsequential match against Ben Shelton on Friday.

"It was a very, very tight match. He had break opportunities in the first and second set, but each time, I served very well. I think he changed some things tactically. I am very happy with the way I handled the situation.

I am satisfied with how I handled the important moments, serving really well. Fortunately, I managed to break him twice, but it was a great performance from both players.

If you look at today's match, I won the first set thanks to one or two points that went my way. The second set, same thing. If those points had been won by Sascha (Zverev), we would probably be talking about a different score and even a different winner.

You never know. I thought Sascha played very well today from the baseline. At the same time, I tried to be perfect from a tactical point of view. I made a few mistakes, but I think we prepared for the match well.

Even in matches that end 6-2, everything can come down to a few points. I didn't play much on this surface (indoor) when I was young, but I find it suits my playing style perfectly.

I find it easier to find my rhythm in training. When someone hits hard, it's very difficult to change the rhythm of the ball. That helps me a lot when I play indoors.

It's true that I try to change that rhythm, because it's important and essential, but here, there is no wind, no sun, you always have the same feel on the court. It helps me, in any case, to stay much more comfortable throughout a match," Sinner told Punto de Break.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
