"I didn't serve very well throughout the tournament," Swiatek explains her quarterfinal elimination at the US Open

Iga Swiatek was defeated in the quarterfinals of the US Open. Facing a very strong Amanda Anisimova, the Polish player couldn't find the keys to overcome the world No. 9 and lost in two sets (6-4, 6-3).
In front of her home crowd, the 24-year-old player secured her first career victory against her opponent of the day, just weeks after losing without winning a single game in the Wimbledon final against this same Swiatek.
Swiatek, for her part, reacted to her defeat and regretted her lack of effectiveness on serve throughout the New York fortnight, although she also acknowledged that Anisimova deserved her victory.
"I know what I've accomplished; I can't erase everything just because I lost today. I couldn't win playing like that and serving like that, especially with Amanda (Anisimova) returning so aggressively.
From the baseline, it was fine, but the serve made the difference. I struggled with my first serve, and she attacked my second serves. I didn't serve very well throughout the tournament. But with her quality of return, it was even more noticeable.
The Wimbledon final had no relevance today. Everyone knows how Amanda can play. She didn't play well at Wimbledon, but she wasn't going to make the same mistakes.
I was ready for a tough match. And she won, so it doesn't matter. The difference in this match was that she was keeping the balls in play. I'm not surprised; I've trained with her, I know how she can play. She moved better, she played better," Swiatek told L'Équipe.
