"I follow you Val," Rinderknech's thought for his cousin Vacherot in Shanghai
After his victory in Shanghai, Rinderknech emulated his cousin's performance from the previous day.
Arthur Rinderknech qualified this Wednesday for the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters 1000. The Frenchman, who had already defeated Hamad Medjedovic, Alex Michelsen and Alexander Zverev, this time got the better of Jiri Lehecka (6-3, 7-6 in 1h30), all without conceding a single break point.
The world number 54 was surely inspired by the performance of his cousin, Valentin Vacherot. The day before, the Monégasque had come back to defeat Tallon Griekspoor (4-6, 7-6, 6-4) to reach, at 26 years old, the quarterfinals of a Masters 1000 for the first time as well.
Moreover, when signing the camera after his victory, Rinderknech had a thought for Vacherot: "I follow you Val." The latter will face Holger Rune for a spot in the semifinals while Rinderknech will play against the winner of the match between Félix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti.
