I found myself in a nightclub and half the draw was there," Andrei Medvedev shares a 1990s tour anecdote

Invited on TNT Sports alongside Agassi, Andrei Medvedev opened up about his time on the tour. The Ukrainian reached a career-high ranking of No. 4 in 1994, a year after his Roland-Garros semifinal run.
"First, I read Andre (Agassi)'s book, which was very interesting. I learned that when you're nervous, you can drink vodka before a match. As for me, I was raised in an environment... cigarettes, alcohol, drugs—but forget all that. Even bad habits, like staying out late and going to nightclubs, weren’t acceptable if you wanted to go pro. Obviously, I saw things differently when I noticed the French and Spanish players."
The 50-year-old also shared a story about the Parisian Grand Slam:
"By the way, I remember one incident at Roland-Garros. When I ended up in a Paris nightclub on Monday, half the tournament draw was there. Me? I was there because I wanted to retire. I was done. That’s why I was there. But them? They were still in the second round, and they were all smoking and drinking. What’s going on?
