I have everything I need to be in the top 10 and win a Grand Slam," Townsend ambitious for the future after her run at the US Open
On eight occasions, Taylor Townsend was one point away from qualifying for the quarterfinals of the US Open. But she hadn't counted on an inspired Barbora Krejcikova, who saved most of the match points with style.
The American, who started the tournament ranked 139th in the world, will move closer to the top 100 next week. In a press conference, she expressed confidence in her ability to go further in the Majors:
"I am where I need to be. I have everything I need to be in the top 20, top 10, and win a Grand Slam. She (Krejcikova) is a two-time Grand Slam champion. I beat a Grand Slam winner (Ostapenko) in this tournament. I have everything I need.
