"I have goosebumps," Swiatek's joy after her Wimbledon quarterfinal victory
Defeated at Roland-Garros, where she had previously triumphed four times, Swiatek seemed to begin the grass season with waning confidence. Historically less comfortable on this surface, the Polish player proved otherwise by reaching the final in Bad Homburg and now a semifinal at Wimbledon—her first career appearance at this stage.
After defeating Samsonova in straight sets, the former world No. 1 shared her excitement in a post-match interview:
"This is amazing! I have goosebumps, but I’ll keep pushing forward. Yes, I’m starting to enjoy myself this year, and I’ve really worked hard to improve on this surface. I’m truly happy to have played in front of you all. Of course, it’s a different rhythm—I think this is only the second time I’ve played back-to-back days. I’ll try to recover well, and I’ll be ready tomorrow."
For a spot in the final, she will face the winner of the match between Andreeva and Bencic.
