Swiatek Advances to Her First Wimbledon Semifinal

Swiatek has clearly been very comfortable since the start of Wimbledon. After a confident win over Tauson (6-4, 6-1) in her previous match, the Polish player continued her momentum by defeating Samsonova 6-2, 7-5 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.
Strong behind her first serve, she also showcased great efficiency by converting four of her seven break points throughout the match. Her return quality was another major asset in today’s victory.
However, the world No. 4 faced a minor hiccup midway through the second set, as the Russian player clawed back from a break deficit. Still, Swiatek closed out the match after 1 hour and 48 minutes. A finalist in Bad Homburg last June, the former world No. 1 appears to be adapting better and better to grass (7 wins in 9 matches on the surface this season).
With this latest result, Swiatek has secured her first Wimbledon semifinal, making her the first Polish woman to reach this stage since Radwańska in 2015. For a spot in the final, she will face the winner of the match between Andreeva and Bencic.
